Why should women lift weights?

   
Some of you have heard the news, muscle burns fat! Muscle also helps to keep your bones strong, improves immune function, increased energy level, improves self-esteem, increased sex drive (yep, it's true), and makes us feel more capable.

   So why don't more women lift weights? Well, unfortunately there are many reasons women avoid the weights... They think they're going to 'look like a man,' or they just don't know where to begin, they don't think they're strong enough and they think cardio is the best and only way to burn the fat. I'm here to tell you, these are all myth's most women have about weight lifting.

   Because of those myth's, I've put together a women's only weight training class. The class will meet twice a week for four weeks at the Adventure Fitness Studio. You will work with weights and body weight exercises to help improve strength, flexibility, agility, endurance (for daily activities) and overall self-confidence. The classes meet for one hour each time and you will concentrate on a full body workout using free weights, bands, body weight and fitness balls. The class is energetic and encouraging!
