What to Expect During and After Your Massage
Massage is performed on the bare skin, however, you need only remove the amount of clothing that is comfortable for you. After you have positioned yourself under the sheets on the massage table, your therapist will enter the room. If you prefer, the massage may be limited to a specific body area or the full body. All areas not being worked on will remain covered and your modesty will be repected at all times. You determine the the amount of pressure used by your therapist. Please feel free to express any discomfort or concerns you may have during the session. Each massage session may be either for relaxation purposes, to address specific pain conditions, or a combination of both. Conversation is a personal decision, you may remain slient or talk, it it entirerly up to you.
After your massage, expect to feel great! Most people report feeling 'like a new person' immediately afterward. Some people experience minor soreness that may last 24 to 36 hours. Lactic acid and other metabolic waste products will be mobilized in the tissue, occasionally causing a slight discomfort. If the discomfort is still significant after 36 hours, please call your therapist for suggestions. It is always important to drink water but after a massage make sure and drink plenty of water to speed up removal of metabolic waste products that have been mobilized by the massage.
